Ann Johnson

Ms. Ann Johnson is the Director of Choral Activities at Grove City High School. 

Ms. Johnson received her Bachelor of Vocal Music Education (B.M.E.) from Ohio Wesleyan University and Master of Music Education (M.M.) and Kodaly Certification from The Kodaly Institute at Capital University. Her career has spanned many facets in and out of the classroom. She is an Adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) and serves on the Ohio Choral Directors Association (OCDA) Board as the Mentorship Chair. 

The choirs and show choirs under the direction of Ms. Johnson have consistently received "Superior" ratings at regional and state level OMEA Adjudicated events and show choir competitions. Ms. Johnson has served as a Presider for the OMEA Professional Development Conference and as a Regional Conductor for the OMEA All-State Choir. For the past three years, Ms. Johnson has served on the OMEA adjudicated event large group repertoire selection committee. She recently made her conducting debut at Carnegie Hall, directing the top concert choirs at GCHS who were selected to perform a solo concert last summer. Ms. Johnson was the Vocal Director for the Ohio Educational Theatre Associations (OEdTA) State Production of "All Shook Up" which she traveled to the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. She enjoys serving as a Substitute Conductor for the Columbus Children's Chorus New World Singers. She also spent a summer in a choral conductors seminar at the Juilliard School in New York City. 

Ms. Johnson enjoys training in dance in NYC and Columbus, especially tap dance! She has choreographed for numerous organizations around Central Ohio throughout the years, as well as the GCHS show choirs. Previous to Grove City High School, Ms. Johnson has taught in Whitehall City, Buckeye Valley Local, and Olentangy Local school districts.

Ms. Johnson is very proud of the students of the GCHS Vocal Music program and all of their various accomplishments and continued hard work and dedication to excellence.

Brennan Harris

Accompanist / Assistant Director

Mr. Harris received his M.M. in Choral Conducting from The Ohio State University. Currently he works as a pianist, vocal coach, and private instructor in the greater Columbus area. He accompanies choirs at Grove City HS, Granville HS, and Olentangy Orange HS, and is the Director of Music at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is also a published composer and an arranger of a cappella music for high school and collegiate groups.

Laura Parkinson

Assistant Director

Ms. Laura Parkinson is the Assistant Director of Show Choirs at Grove City High School. 

Ms. Parkinson is the General Music Teacher at Hayes and Park Street Intermediate School. During her first year as a General Music Teacher at Hayes Intermediate School, she received “Educator of the Year.” 

During the 2020 Spring Year, Ms. Parkinson student taught under Ann Johnson at Grove City High School. 

Ms. Parkinson received her Bachelor of Vocal Music Education (B.M.E.) from Capital University in 2020.

Shane Coe 

Choreographer

Mr. Coe is a freelance choreographer, adjudicator, and clinician based in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Teays Valley High School where he was a part of the award-winning "Prominent Rendition." Shane is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Popular Culture and a minor in music. Shane also studied music education for four years while at BGSU. He currently choreographs for many show choirs across the country and has won many best choreography awards working with these groups. Shane has also choreographed for collegiate operas, musicals, a capella groups, and barbershop choruses. He was a member of the BGSU Men's Chorus as well as a founding member of the pop a capella group, the HeeBeeBGs. While with the HeeBeeBGs, he helped the group with the best choreography at ICCA. In his free time, Shane enjoys reading and hanging out with his dog, Wrigley.

Combo Director

Logan Pelphrey is the Assistant Band Director in the Bexley City School District, Assistant Marching Band Director at Olentangy HS, and the Assistant Vocal Music Director at Grove City HS. He also teaches

private lessons on french horn, euphonium, and trombone around Columbus. When he isn't teaching,

Mr. Pelphrey performs in several ensembles including: The Grove City Community Winds, The Dublin Silver

Band, the Jewish Community Center's Pit orchestra, The Butterfly Guild of Columbus, as well as several

small ensembles throughout the Central Ohio area.

 

Mr. Pelphrey received his bachelor's degree in Music Education from Capital University in 2020 and is

currently pursuing a master's degree in Wind Band Conducting

Choreographer 

Zack Triscari is a freelance choreographer, director, clinician, adjudicator, and show designer based in Columbus, OH. He received a Bachelor of Vocal Music Education from Otterbein University. While completing his undergraduate degree, Zack traveled to Ireland and Germany as a member of the Otterbein University Concert Choir. Zack has worked as a professional vocalist for various churches throughout Central Ohio. He also served as the Contemporary Worship Leader for Crossroads Campus Ministry at Church of the Master in Westerville. Zack served as the Director of Choirs at Allen East Local Schools where he taught grades 6-12. His responsibilities included conducting four concert choirs, directing two show choirs, a select chamber ensemble, and the all-school musical. Zack is currently the Vocal Director of Heid’s ETC School Of Musical Arts treble ensemble, “Rouge.” Over the last eight years, Zack has choreographed more than 40 show choirs across the country. His groups have received numerous awards including Best Choreography, Best Vocals, Division Champions and Overall Grand Champions. His choreography experience also includes elementary productions, school musicals, community theatre, pop a cappella, collegiate choral performances, and collegiate operas. Zack has trained in many dance styles including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theatre and more. Zack has served as a clinician and adjudicator for show choir events in many states including Ohio, Indiana and Virginia, and Mississippi.

April James 

Choreographer

Ms. James is a freelance choreographer based in Los Angeles. Her employment history includes show choir choreography for various junior high, high school and college groups around the country. She is also a choreographer for Show Choir Camps of America in Illinois and Ohio, and has worked with Mississippi Delta Junior College, Belmont University in Nashville and The Dance Company at the University of Mississippi. Her credits also include creating video choreography for "Show Design, Inc." and touring with the rhythm tap group "Cacophony". April is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in kinesiology (science of movement).
